How large a marquee do I require?

Two good guidelines to follow:

For a buffet event: a minimum of 8 square feet per person
For a seated event: a minimum of 15 square feet per person

Then, add in space for dance floors, catering tables, DJ equipment etc. This will give you a rough idea of your space requirements.

Can I buy or hire other marquee equipment?

Yes. Gala Tent supply furniture, lighting and flooring as well.

How long is a marquee hire period?

Usually for weekend events, the marquee is hired for both Saturday and Sunday. During the week, the length of the marquee hire period is by arrangement.

Do we need heaters? Even in midsummer, heaters may be necessary. So budget for a heater just in case, and make a decision in the week leading up to your party when you have seen the weather forecast.

Are marquees suitable for winter events?

With appropriate flooring marquees make ideal venues for Christmas and New Year parties, for an example. Marquee heaters ensure warmth inside the marquee

What is the difference between lined and unlined marquees?

Lined marquees are more luxurious and are an essential element of a traditional wedding-style marquee. With unlined marquees, the PVC walls and marquee structure are fully visible, making them more suitable for functional or casual events.

What colour are your marquees?

All marquees are made of lacquered white PVC as standard, however Gala Tent can manufacture these in many colours.

How safe are marquees?

All marquees listed on this website are made from materials that conform to British Standard specifications and are fully fire resistant.

When will you put up/take down my marquee?

Typically, marquees are erected on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before an event; and dismantled on the following Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. If you have a special requirement, let the marquee company know to provide an event timetable.

Do marquees stand up to storms?

We only advertise marquees, which are sturdy, always ensure that they are properly anchored. Can marquees be connected to a building?

Yes. Marquees can serve as an 'extension' to a building if the space is suitable, 'framed' marquee structures can easily butt up against the side of your home, pub, restaurant, business etc...

Could a marquee damage cables or pipes running underground?

If cabling or pipe work is near the surface, damage is possible. Make sure you have a plan of the site or a cat scanner to check for cables and pipes etc, however you would only require this for any pegs over 12inch in length.

Will marquees damage our garden?

Temporarily yes. Grass that has been covered for several days will not look its best. But recovery will be swift. However if you use breathable groundsheets damage is very minimal in any.
